Little Lakes Holiday Park was established in 1961, the brainchild of the late Peter Fernihough, and is still owned by his family today. Born of a desire to transform his inherited farmland into a holiday home park for families who enjoyed the great outdoors, he started out with just a handful of static caravans and later a field specifically for touring caravans and tents. The tranquillity of this lovely area soon encouraged other families to come to relax in the wonderful rolling Worcestershire countryside and the future of the fledgling Little Lakes Holiday Park was assured.
The Park’s farming origins are still much in evidence. The current offices were transformed from the original cow shed: indeed, our Chairman, Michael Fernihough, fondly remembers the hard work and tremendous fun he had in his younger days putting fresh milk into cartons for sale around park.
The addition of a golf course, shop, café and clubhouse over the years added to the attraction of the Park. A small bric-a-brac shop opened, manned by Peter's sister Avis. From this tiny outlet locally grown plants were also sold, many being planted within early Park Members’ gardens, whilst others were taken home as a reminder of happy holidays spent at the Park.
The growing community found many ways to entertain themselves over the years. On the field where the Holiday Village is now well established, a yearly Rodeo and Stock Car race once took place. For many years, the Park entered a float in Bewdley Carnival - after lots of hard work and enthusiasm our float would proudly purr through the streets of Bewdley packed with suitably dressed park members enjoying every moment.
We are confident that the combination of the Park’s rich heritage and our recent investment in a range of superb modern facilities make today’s Park one of the finest in the Midlands. The old saying, "From little acorns, mighty oak trees doth grow” has never been more true.
